Chapter 11 – Andrei

Two weeks had passed since the unexpected car chase, but most importantly, it had been two weeks since Parker and I had made a successful deal–and I am marrying his daughter.

Today was, without a doubt, a glorious day. I was getting married to the most beautiful woman.

Soft violin music played in the background, quiet chatter and laughter rang out from the happy crowd that had gathered under the clear blue sky. The villa, hidden behind the lush garden, was a truly picturesque sight with vibrant and well-tended flowers that added to the quaint charm.

The wedding guests were bright and chirpy, just like me. They sat on rows of white chairs on the manicured lawn, facing the rustic archway. Fresh ivy vines framed the small podium where I stood with my groomsmen, Damien and Roman.

While we waited patiently for my bride to arrive, the two of them were chatting away. Out of the corner of my eye I saw two large men coming toward me with a group of bodyguards behind them.

The two men were elegantly dressed, wearing black tuxedos and polished shoes. Their presence dominated even the air we breathed. My eyes grew wide, and a broad smile spread across my face.

The powerful leader of the Bratva had come to my wedding. I felt honored.

“Pahkhan! [boss]” I greeted with a curt bow. “It is a pleasure and honor that you have come.”

With an equally radiant smile, Vlad grabbed my hand and shook it firmly. “How could you think I would miss your big day, Andrei? You’re practically family.”

“I appreciate it. How is Mrs. Varkov?” I craned my neck, searching the crowd briefly before putting it back down. “I can’t seem to see her here.”

“Oh, she’s around somewhere,” he waved his hand in the air with a proud smile.

He looked happier and more contented than I was used to. Age had not really harmed him, he appeared fitter and stronger than ever. Next to him stood another handsome man from the Varkov bloodline.

Igor, who was the cousin of Vlad and Damien. He was tall, a bit slimmer than Vlad, but an athletic physic and had those piercing blue eyes—that send cold shivers down your spine, like all the Varkov men.

He had one hand tucked into the pocket of his suit pants. He extended the other with a smirk plastered on his face.

“Andrei.”

I smirked. “Igor.”

He rubbed his jaw, which had a few faint scars, and turned his attention to Damien. “I must admit, after Vlad's wedding, I didn't expect another one. I guess you guys are all getting older.” He chuckled. “And I never expected you, to get married.” Who knows, maybe Roman will be next?”

With Igor it was always fun, he was always joking and entertaining us guys. But when it came to business, he was fierce as a lion.

Vlad snorted. “That would be a surprise.”

“Not after you started this trend of the impossible becoming possible,” Igor commented.

Damien chuckled. “That’s true. You started it.”

“Someone had to do it,” Vlad said.
